Mercury Magnetics Valve Jr. Upgrade Kit including components, transformers & how-to instructions for Epiphone® Valve Junior Heads & Combos, including the latest "6V6 Mod."
IMPORTANT: Please choose your output impedance type below.
The source of an unbelievable and full of character amp tone can be traced to the transformers. High-end transformers are not easy to manufacture and they can become expensive. Once an amp manufacturer chooses to use low quality transformers, the tone of the amp will sound, well ... cheap as well.
Mercury Magnetics designed an Upgrade Kit for the remarkably inexpensive Epiphone® Valve Jr. amp (combo or head). This amp upgrade kit features high-quality, professional grade performance transformers like those found in high-end amps costing a fortune. The Mercury Magnetics Valve Jr. Upgrade Kit morphes the modified Epiphone® Valve Jr. into a genuine boutique amplifier sounding tone machine at the lowest-cost ever on the market.
Here is your chance at beating the economy and having a coveted tone at only a small fraction of the price of the high end boutique guitar amps.
The Mercury Magnetics Valve Junior Upgrade Kit includes:
- Axiom® Power Transformer
- Axiom® Output Transformer
- Other parts necessary to make the mod
- CD-ROM with schematics and photographic instructions
- Mercury Magnetics "Equipped with" metal plate
- Fully illustrated step-by-step color manual, with wiring schematics on CD-ROM.
- BONUS! Just added is the "6V6 Mod." Takes your Valve Jr.to even greater heights! Retrofits a 6V6 tube into the circuit. Allows you to run the EL84 and 6V6 separately or in tandem.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a specially developed and priced upgrade kit. At this time we are not selling the components individually.
*BIG NOTE: The Champ Mercury's kit does not include the amplifier -- only the components necessary for the upgrade of an existing amp.
CAUTION! The voltages in your amplifier can be dangerous. Transformers and chokes are not user serviceable parts. Installation of these components should always be performed by an experienced technician. The simple ability to use a soldering iron is not enough to qualify a "do it yourself person." Those who are inexperienced in working with electronic circuits should never attempt to service their amplifier. Household line currents can be deadly!! Transformers, chokes and large filter capacitors can store a dangerous charge for several days or more after the amplifier has been unplugged. Never touch the terminals of such devices without being certain of their charge status. Risk of shock and damage to equipment may result from mishandling and/or improper use of these components. Please use common sense and always think safety first. After all, tone is most enjoyed when you are alive to hear it.
